Q: Will chiropractic treatment be covered by my insurance?

A: Most insurance plans will cover chiropractic services and Dr. Bailey is in network with most local insurance plans.  Check with your insurance company to see if your plan covers care or call Bailey Chiropractic to confirm.

Q: Do I need a referral from my primary care physician to see a chiropractor?

A: You do not need a referral for chiropractic care.  Chiropractors are uniquely qualified to diagnose musculoskeletal disorders, so no need to go to your family doctor first.  Dr. Bailey is however very willing to work to your medical doctors to coordinate care.

Q: Will I need to have X-rays taken?

A: There are certain instances when x-rays will be very important to the diagnosis of the condition however without any traumatic event, this is fairly rare.

Q: What education does a DC receive?

A: Over 3 years of full-time study focusing on anatomy, physiology, neuroanatomy, and manual conservative treatments after completing undergraduate requirements. To qualify for licensure, graduates must pass 4 examinations from the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners and complete state specific requirements. Once licensed, NYS require chiropractors to attend 30-50 hours of continuing education annually.

Q: Is chiropractic treatment safe?

A: In general, chiropractic treatments carry a very low risk of complication. Patients may experience short-term [24 - 48 hours] local soreness following the initial adjustment. The risk of serious, irreversible complication is rare. It is important that you discuss any specific concerns with your treating chiropractor prior to receiving treatment.

Q: How many treatments will I need?

A: This will greatly vary depending on how severe or chronic your pain is.  Rarly will a patient not be feeling better after 2-3 visits however it may take quite a bit longer to optimally improve, especially if you have been in pain for years or decades.  One of the goals of Dr. Bailey is to empower his patients with the knowledge and tools to manage their symptoms, so with the introduction of home exercises, treatments often are limited to just a few sessions.
