Active Release Technique

Myofacial Release Techniques / Active Release Technique

One of the things that separates Dr. Bailey from many of the area chiropractors is his attention to the muscles of the body and addressing the muscular causes that are often causing the patients pain. Dr. Bailey is trained in Active Release Technique (ART) and uses it extensively. He also uses various tools to assist myofacial release techniques that together with ART breaks up scar tissue, improve range of motion, break up trigger points and enhance blood flow.

Therapeutic Exercise

One of Dr. Bailey's main goals is provide his patients with the knowledge and tools they need to actively prevent and manage their pain. The only way to do this is through home exercises to strengthen and stretch areas that are not functioning optimally.

Therapeutic Modalities

Modalities such as Electrical Stimulation, Ultrasound, and hot or cold packs are routinely used to enhance care. These treatments will not be used independently from manual therapies; however, they can enhance muscle relaxation and pain relief when used in conjunction with hands on treatment.

Flexion / Distraction

This technique is a must for most low back pain patients. It offers a gentle stretch / mobilization for patients to open up the lumbar joints, stretch the superficial and deep muscles, and relieve the pressure of a compressed disc space.

Nutrition Counseling / Supplements

At this time Dr. Bailey is not charging fees for nutritional counseling; however, he does provide a wide variety of supplements from Metagenics and Standard Process for purchase. Dr. Bailey has a Master’s degree in Applied Clinical Nutrition and will often use this knowledge to complement his manual adjusting techniques and enhance the health of his patients.

Chiropractic Manipulation

Depending on the needs of the patient joint manipulation will be performed with varying degrees of force. Manipulation is the cornerstone of Dr. Bailey’s practice with therapeutic exercise, soft tissue techniques and therapeutic modalities being used to enhance care. The benefits of joint manipulation are vast and include increased range of motion, decreased muscle tone and decreased pain.

Activator

The activator technique is low force technique that can be used independently of hands on joint manipulation; however, it is often used to complement other forms of manipulation. The idea is to provide a gentle percussive force into a joint or muscle to affect the neurology in that area. This can be very effective at relaxing tight or spastic muscles.
